Immigration Stories - Every Immigrant has a story to tell.
Immigration is all about the people … the people who were here and those who came.
Immigrants have a lot to adapt to when migrating to a new country. A new environment, new lifestyle, new currency, new language or accent and often a completely different culture. Many generations of immigrants have moved their families to start a new life.
Every immigrant has a unique story to tell. For many, it may have been difficult, for others it may have been a little easier finding their feet.
We’d like to share some immigration stories with you, so let’s start with the first one.
Immigration Stories – Moving to Australia
Matthias & Annemarie Wockenfuss' Immigration Story
“We just love living here, and combining the professional career with a beautiful lifestyle.” Matthias Wockenfuss
Matthias Wockenfuss, a mechanical engineer along with his wife Annemarie, moved from Germany to Australia.
Matthias & Annemarie love living near the beach in Torquay Victoria (just outside of Geelong), where they’ve bought a house and spend their time riding the waves at the local beaches as often as they can.
“We just recently bought a house and that made us finally feel at home like we’ve reached a destination where we want to stay” said Matthias.
Their first visit to Australia was on temporary visas, and state sponsorship was applied for at a later date.
With beautiful countryside and welcoming locals, Mattias & Annemarie say they are living their Australia dream.
“The main attraction and why we chose Australia is that we love surfing and we love the nature, and that made us, in the end, choose this area in Victoria” said Matthias.
“I didn’t find it challenging to adapt…because there are beautiful people down here” says Annemarie.
